Funeral services for Clois G. Cummings, age 79, of Wedowee, will be held, Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Ava Methodist Church with Rev. Harold Cummings and Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010.
Mrs. Cummings died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Lineville Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Cummings is survived by three daughters, Penny (husband Tommy) Lovvorn of Wedowee, Ramona (husband Harold) Adams of Wilsonville, Elizabeth (husband Ron) Watters of Wedowee; one son, Rudd (wife Kim) Cummings of Bremen, GA; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be T. J. Lovvorn, Ricky Daniel, Luke Cummings, Rusty Watters, Brad Stewart, Heath Hoffman, Chase Lowry, Keith Langley and Jeff Luker.
Mrs. Cummings was born, January 17, 1931, the daughter of Jefferson and Pearl Traylor Gosdin. She was member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, had retired as a seamstress for Playtex, and had worked at the Dairy King in Wedowee. Mrs. Cummings was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie W. Cummings; her parents; one sister; one brother. Flowers will be accepted or donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., 17th floor, Chicago, IL 60601.
