Funeral services for Mrs. Tabatha Murphy Hancock, age 28, of Woodland, will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, July 23, 2010 from Jordan's Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Moore, Rev. David Holcombe, and Rev. Chris Mitchell officiating. She will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010.
Mrs. Hancock died Tuesday, July 20, 2010.
Mrs. Hancock is survived by her parents, Michael and Patresa Murphy of Woodland; one sister, Heather (husband Owen) Henderson of Carrollton, GA; paternal grandparent, Betty Murphy of Woodland; maternal grandparent, Betty McCormick of Bowdon, GA; one niece, Madeline Faith Henderson of Carrollton, GA; several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Chase, Kip Chase, Josey McCormick, Luke Sims, Josh McCormick, Chris McCormick, Chris Glass, Bryan Wortham. Honorary pallbearers will be Oxford Police Department.
Mrs. Hancock was born May 27, 1982. She was a member of Jordan's Chapel Methodist Church, worked as a Post-closing team leader in the Central Loan Processing Dept. for Community & Southern Bank of Carrollton, GA. Tabatha was a life time member of the Girl Scouts of America, recipient of the Gold Award in Girl Scouts of America. She was a Sunday School Teacher at Jordan's Chapel, 2000 graduate of Woodland High School, graduate of West Georgia College and the best mother in the world to her baby. Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by her grandfather, Rev. Julian Murphy. Flowers will be accepted or donations to Jordan's Chapel Church, 1828 Co. Rd. 6, Wedowee, AL 36278.
