Funeral services for Darson Waters age 81, of Newell will be held Friday August 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Jordan's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Billy East officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Waters passed away Tuesday August 10, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Waters is survived by his wife Nancy Gosdin Waters of Newell, one daughter Brenda Jane Waters (Hal) Till of Ayden, N.C., one son Ricky Darson ( Jill Deanne) Waters of Jacksonville, a sister Mary Alice ( Jerry) Knight of Oxford, one brother Clyde ( Annie Jim) Waters of Heflin, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Waters was born November 24, 1928 the son of Silvey Larkin and Alice Teague Waters, he was a self employed farmer and a member of Jordan's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Margaret Waters, a infant brother and one uncle Leford Waters.
The family will receive flowers or donations to Jordan's Chapel Building Fund, 9314 County Road 92, Woodland, Alabama 36280.
The family will receive friends on Thursday August 12, 2010 from 5 till 8 PM at Benefield Funeral Home- Wedowee. Mr. Waters will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
