Funeral services for Russell P. Bass, age 89 of Woodland, will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 4, 2012, from Bear Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Jacob Wilkerson officiating. Mr. Bass will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Saturday, March 3.
Pallbearers will be Bob Fincher, Jack Shelton, Hobert McManus, Randy McManus, Wendell Shelton, and James Sears.
Mr. Bass died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Wedowee Hospital. He is survived by one daughter Linnie Faye Capes of Woodland, one son Terry P. Bass of Woodland, four grandchildren Darin Capes, Denita Terrell, T.J. Bass, and Austin Bass, and nine great grandchildren.
Mr. Bass was born April 27, 1922, the son of Joe Lee and Jimmie McManus Bass. He was a member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church and had worked for Lamar MFG. Company. Mr. Bass is preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlis Sears Bass, four sisters; betty Jo Cummings, Nancy Gable, Mollie Jane Lipham, Maxine Davis, and two brothers; Ligon and Bobby Bass.
