Obituary of Jimmy Garrett Clarke

Obituary Notice Funeral services for, Jimmy Garrett Clarke, age 74, of Delta, will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 29, 2012, from Christiana Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Bain and Rev. Ted Embry officiating. At a later date a private graveside service will be held at Christiana Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Bob Bain and Rev. Curtis Beculhimer officiating. Mr. Clarke will lie in state one hour before the service at the church with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Friday, September 28th. Pallbearers will be Joe Higgins, Tim Clarke, Christian Higgins, Kevin Strickland, Jeremy Clarke, Jacob Clarke, Jalen Clarke, Dalton Clarke and Zachary Lambert. Honorary pallbearers will be, Deacons of Christian Baptist, Joel Taylor, Benny White and Howard Welch. Mr. Clarke died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Northeast Regional Medical Center. Mr. Clarke is survived by his wife, Kitha Lou Brooks Clarke of Delta; three sons, Keith and wife Tina Clarke, Jimmy Lin Clarke, Sandy Clarke all of Delta; one sister, Sue Clarke of Anniston, one brother, Byron Clarke of Delta; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Mr. Clarke was born, May 27, 1938, the son of, Eulas Fletcher and Audrey Rogers Clarks. He was a member of Christiana Baptist Church and had been a self-employed construction worker. Mr. Clarke is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fletcher Roger "Butch", Gene and Bill Clarke.
