Obituary of Thomas A. Thorsen

On November 18, 2019, Thomas A. Thorsen, loving husband and father, and terrific grandfather, passed away at the age of 72.

Tom was born on September 30, 1947 along the shores of Lake Michigan to Aage and Lora Thorsen. He served in the Navy in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Newport News. He then married Diane Webb Thorsen on April 20, 1974. They raised their two sons Chris and Scott in Eaton Rapids, MI and Moreland, GA.

Tom was a self-taught design engineer with over a dozen patents. As a young man, he loved bass fishing and hunting. As his boys grew, their love of baseball drew Tom to the backyard and the baseball diamond, where he spent countless hours throwing fly balls and coaching baseball teams. Tom and Diane built two beautiful homes together and, as a loving grandfather to his granddaughters, Tom mastered the art of telling granddad jokes, which will live forever in their memories.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his son Cliff and his granddaughter Madeline. He is survived by his wife, Diane, his sons Chris and Scott, his daughters-in-law Anna and Caitlin, and his granddaughters Ava, Clara and Sloane. The family will hold a private memorial.
