Graveside services for Dillard Joiner "D J" Hammett, age 76 of Wedowee will be held Saturday April 10 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Frank Bell Reaves officiating from Wedowee City Cemetery with full masonic rites..
Mr. Hammett passed away Thursday April 8, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Hammett is survived by his wife Geraldine Cummings Hammett of Wedowee, two sons, Richard J. ( wife Kim) Hammett of Charlotte, N.C., and Roger B. ( wife Melissa) Hammett of Wedowee, four grandchildren Adam, Joseph, John Henry and Kanan Hammett, two great-grandchildren Peyton and Emerson Hammett.
Mr. Hammett was born April 9, 1933 the son of Dillard J. and Ruth Clifton Hammett Sr., he had served in the United States Army, he was retired from Auburn University and a member of Wedowee First United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee on Friday April 9, 2010 from 5 till 7 PM.
